The first large-capacity rapid charging station for electric cars in the Czech Republic is situated inside an arched drive-in made for previously existing petrol pumps. The guidelines for the commission involved creating the arched shape and the modest dimensions of the built-up surface along with the number of charging stations, with six of them for Tesla electric cars placed separate from another six for the other vehicles.
Since charging of electric cars takes approximately twenty minutes, our goal was to create a pleasant environment distinct from the character of a petrol station on the limited surface which we had available. The small structure was also supposed to express the dynamic as well as operational “purity” of electric cars and their environmental friendliness. The structure has the shape of a wooden boomerang with a small green island with wood benches facing out on the woods in its inner space. This first supercharger in the Czech Republic makes use of the toilets of the neighbouring petrol station.
